Profile

My interest in all things electronic and technical started a long time ago. Gadgets and mechanisms of all kinds fascinated me, and I always wanted to know how they worked.

Taking things apart was my specialty then. Putting them back together came later.

When I was 12, I learned that all electronics are powered by magic smoke. The secret was not to let the smoke out.

A dozen years later, my parents opened up a little consumer electronics repair business in Goderich, Ontario and I spent a few years fixing televisions, VCRs, microwaves, and just about anything else that you could plug into a wall.

In 2000, after graduating from Fanshawe College in London Ontario, I made the switch from consumer electronics to industrial and began my apprenticeship as an industrial electrician. One year into that and I had my first exposure to LabVIEW.

For the next 8 years, I worked as a panel builder, programmer and integrator, primarily with automotive testing systems, although there were a few very interesting aerospace projects in there as well.

I met Ben Zimmer through a popular LabVIEW forum, and took an interest in his work with a local FRC team. When the opportunity to join the Enable Training and Consulting team came in October of 2009, I jumped at the chance and the rest as they say, is future history.
