Profile

I am a Mechatronic Engineer from Germany. After finishing university last summer I started working for Enable Training and Consulting this year.

Since my childhood, I have been interested in machines, robots and computers. It started with Lego Technic kits. The first Lego computer was a little simpler than the new NXT brick, but it was a good start into the world of engineering. With time, I got more and more interested in robotics.

Starting university in 2003, I could not decide whether to focus on one of the fields like mechanics, electronics or computer science. That is why I chose to go for all three of them and picked mechatronics.

This was a great chance to get a wide, basic knowledge. While doing a university coop at Bosch Rexroth in Canada, I was taught LabVIEW programming by Ben. This was totally different from all the other text based languages I had worked with before. I enjoyed this type of programming much better. It felt more intuitive and easier to follow.

After getting my master degree in Mechatronics, I decided to come back to Canada. This year, I started working for Enable Training as a programmer for software used on hydraulic test stands. This gives a good variety of work while including the hydraulic hardware, the electronics to acquire data and programming the software.

Besides work I enjoy doing sports. One of my favorite activities is sailing small dinghies on Lake Ontario.
